Song of the Week

This week I cannot stop singing the damn song ‘Blurred Lines’ this week. I mean it’s getting ridiculous! I literally sing it ALL THE TIME!

I have a little routine to it for when I’m ironing, cooking, sitting, in the car- everything. It’s contagious, and once I hear a little note that sounds like a part of the song I’m gone!

Fun fact: all of the music in the song is done by a bass and drums, and a tiny bit of keyboard in the choruses, other than that though it’s just bass and drums! Pretty cool because some people forget the bass even exists in most music genres.

Anyway, here’s the song. You should all make a routine to it too!

Book Review: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Star-crossed lovers, the ones who are never meant to be yet can never stay away from one another; Romeo and Juliet, Edward and Bella, now Luce and Daniel. This book captures young adult fantasy reader’s hearts in an instant with the tragic love story of the two main characters.

However, while the storyline of the lovers is nail biting and interesting, the book falls in certain aspects, confusing the reader mainly. The book follows a young woman named Luce who has been sent to a Reform school because of some horrific event which ended in the death of her crush from her previous school.

Luce has a dark secret which prevents her from telling the full truth about what happened on the night her crush died, and so without a convincing story, but with little evidence to prove that Luce is a killer the reform school is the answer to her parents fears and the court’s problems.

Besides the secrets Luce holds from everyone she loves Luce is a normal enough girl, until she sees the fellow reform student, Daniel. She has a distinct feeling that she has met this boy before, that she knows him. However, as she quests to find out the truth about Daniel and their possible past together the future of the world could be in jeopardy, especially if she discovers the truth.

The author, Lauren Kate is an extremely talented woman, who has created a beautiful love story and an amazing world where mortals and immortals live side by side, unknowing to the humans.

This book is beautifully written and the characters Kate has created are interesting, funny and dramatic in all the right ways. The only flaw with this book is that it is told from the point of view of Luce, who doesn’t know what’s going on in her life, or even what or who the people around her are. Because of this the reader is left as confused as Luce for the most part of this book, and with the end of the book does not come as many revelations as you would have hoped, and any which do come about are skimmed over and not explained.

As this book is the first in a series of four books it is understandable that Kate wanted to keep a few secrets and revelations for the reader, though she hints at too much and not enough is given by the end of the book. However, I will sincerely looking forward to reading the second book, as much as I had been looking forward to reading this first book (which was a lot).

The second book in the series is called ‘Torment’, again with a girl in a beautiful dress on the cover. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the current trend of Young Adult Fantasy books.

The book is set to be released as a movie in 2014, which will send fans mad as the book has been a best seller. Check out the book trailer below, and definitely read the book!

I’ll post a review of the second book whenever I get it and have the chance to read it!

I know I haven’t posted much this last week, but time totally flew away from me and I found myself at Sunday before I knew it.

I’m off to Lourdes this week and won’t be back until Sunday, but once I’m back I’ll be posting daily and will be keeping things going! I swear I’ll be better in a week!

Well, that’s my update, just thought I’d let you all know what happened to me after you were kind enough to follow me!

Till next week!

IMEI for Smartphones, Seriously Important!

Now I know this Blog is young, but I have to tell you all a horrific story. A story that still makes me tear up when I think about it. Worse still, it’s a true story.

I lost my phone about two weeks ago. I know it doesn’t sound that bad… but you don’t understand, I loved that phone like a baby loves bottles. I am one of those people who needs their phone, not for Facebook or whatever, I just need it on me at all times whether I have credit or not!

I’m not into the whole i-Phone craze or the touchscreens. For some reason I just cannot type on them at all. Am I the only one who can’t get the hang of them?! I swear it takes me like 5 attempts every time I want to open my i-Pod. However, I DID have a Blackberry. I love me some buttons.

I got it for Christmas last year and it was going pretty well, until I lost it. I now have a blockia. It’s a pretty Blockia as it’s trying to be a Blackberry, but a Blockia nevertheless.

See the poser attitude of my new phone?

ANYWAY I know that some people might not know about this because I had no idea about it until my Granda gave me an article about it literally a week or two before I actually lost my phone.

For all people who have a Smartphone of any kind, you should all stop your blogging, Tweeting and Liking for two minutes and get your IMEI number, to do which all you have to do is type the number *#06# into your phone, press call and write down the number that shows up onscreen!

This is important because IF your phone somehow disappears like mine did, you can use that number to turn the handset off so that no one else can get into it and use your details, and more importantly, if it was stolen they won’t be able to sell it on!

This number will only freeze your phone, so if you happen to find your phone again you will be able to start it right back up and it will still have all your stuff on it.

I know I’m glad I had the IMEI number because I had a lot of passwords on my phone, and very embarrassing pictures, which were taken on nights out. Pictures which no one should ever see. Ever.

Tis just a nice useful way to ensure that no one will be posing as you or able to sell your phone on, especially if it had some serious information in it like e-mail accounts and bank details in the browsing History.

There! That’s my seriousness used up for the day!

Song of the Week

This is going to be a weekly segment where I tell you guys which song has been stuck in my head all week. I get songs stuck in my head A LOT, which means that I will never run out of songs to put up. Well, that’s the plan anyway.

This week I have the new song by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran stuck in my head. I really like Ed Sheeran, and I have a HUGE girl crush on Taylor Swift. Also, now that it’s actually out as a single, this song just won’t leave me alone!

Although they look cute here, the two have sworn they are only friends. Which I want to believe, I think that they’re cute as a duet, but leaving it at that seems sensible if they’re gonna be on tour together for the next while!

I hadn’t actually seen the video until I opened the link just now, and trust me,it is well worth the watch, especially if you’re into that cutesy wootsy sappy stuff! Which, I really am.

The Introduction

This isn’t my first Blog. Yet this ‘first introduction’ thing isn’t any easier than it was the first time I wrote one.

My name is Charlotte, but here I will be going by the name of Teacup, as you can see! I’m 20 years old and although I have a few skills I have absolutely nothing that I am so good at that I’ll be able to make a living off it. Like most students my age I have no idea what I’m going to end up doing with my life.

However, over my 20 years of existence I have found random tips and little useful things to get me through my day-to-day life.

This Blog will act as one of those things, and as the place I share this random information.

Really, it will be a place where I can come (and hopefully a place that my future readers will come) to write about silly things, run random segments during the week and to share the useless things I’ve got cooped up in my head!

I hope you all stick with me and enjoy the ride! I love talking to people here on WordPress, and I hope to get to know a lot more people through this Blog!
